Choose a rootstock. The rootstock is the part of the tree that will provide the roots for the grafted tree. Choose a rootstock that is resistant to disease and that is well-suited to your climate.

Choose a scion. The scion is the part of the tree that will provide the fruit. Choose a scion from a healthy, vigorous citrus tree that produces the type of fruit you want.

Make a cut in the rootstock. Use a sharp knife to make a 45-degree cut in the rootstock. The cut should be about 1 inch deep.

Insert the scion into the rootstock. Make sure that the cambium layers of the scion and the rootstock are aligned. The cambium layer is the layer of cells that will produce new growth.

Secure the scion in place. You can use a rubber band or grafting tape to secure the scion in place.
